Audrey Ficus - 3 Gallon
3 GALLON AUDREY FICUS TREE
Ficus benghalensis
The 'Audrey' Ficus tree is the national tree of India. It's leaves are forest green & velvety. They have rounded ends & light green veins.
This Ficus thrives in bright indirect light. If you would like to keep it in a space that receives long periods of direct sun it will have to be acclimated. It will not tolerate low light.
Like most tropical plants, the 'Audrey' Ficus prefer soil that is consistently evenly & lightly moist. Allow the top 2-3" of soil to dry before watering.
Rotate your plant periodically to ensure even growth on all sides. Dusting your plant's foliage will help them to photosynthesize more easily, thus improving plant health & growth rate.
Generally, you will need to repot your plant every 18 - 24 months. Choose a pot that is 2 - 4" larger than the last, to allow for growth. Once your plant reaches your preferred size, repot in a container that is the same size as the previous one, provide new soil, & trim away any old foliage & some of the roots.
TIPS & TRICKS:
Shaking a Ficus trunk vigorously a few times per week will encourage growth! When you shake the trunk of the tree, it stimulates the trunk to grow thicker & taller, as well as the foliage to grow thicker. The shaking motion simulates wind from its natural environment.
Be extra careful when repotting your Ficus. Do your best not to disturb the root ball. Knock off any loose soil & then add new soil around the rootball.
